Teacher Training

How can we help you?

With a number of specialists in sexual and reproductive health available to train your team, you can be sure that staff leave filled with not only information but the confidence to deliver subjects time and time again.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

If you would prefer your students to be taught RSE by a member of school staff then let IHC train your team in everything that they need to know to deliver RSE competently and confidently ready for mandatory RSE in 2019. Delivered by a reproductive and sexual health nurse specialist, information is current and relevant for all ages of students.

Workbooks and classroom activities included.

Forced marriage (FM) and honor based violence (HBV) Safeguarding

With such a diverse range of students in our schools, it’s vital to know what it is that affects our different communities. FM & HBV is happening in the U.K each and every day. 47% of the support and advice given by The Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) in 2017 was to young people under the age of 17. Of all cases dealt with by the FMU, the highest figures came from focus countries; Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia and India. There is no denying that this is a sensitive subject but one delivered with a powerful and meaningful message from IHC.

LGBT+ Awareness

School should be a haven where pupils feel safe and have the ability to grow in a comfortable and nurturing environment. Sadly for many LGBT+ students, this isn’t the case, many feel excluded, isolated and are more vulnerable to bullying and poor mental health.

But being inclusive is easy. IHC will train all staff and other stakeholders in LGBT+ awareness to ensure an environment where no one feels left out.
In an all-school approach, we could even review your policies and help set up an LGBT+ student support group.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Safeguarding

IHC can help you to identify ‘at risk’ students and bring you up to date in legislation that helps to protect young girls at risk of FGM. A better understanding of this delicate subject means staff are more likely to identify and safeguard pupils in your care. Case studies, video clips and information of supportive agencies help to make this session engaging and memorable.
