Peer Group Support

Almost one in five LGBT staff (18 per cent) have been the target of negative comments or conduct from work colleagues in the last year because they're LGBT.
More than a third of LGBT staff (35 per cent) have hidden or disguised that they are LGBT at work in the last year because they were afraid of discrimination.
Nearly half of lesbian, gay, bi and trans pupils (45 per cent) – including 64 per cent of trans pupils – are bullied for being LGBT at school.
More than two in five trans young people (45 per cent) have attempted to take their own life. For lesbian, gay and bi young people who aren’t trans, one in five (22 per cent) have attempted to take their own life.
If we feel included and valued then we perform better, feel better and live happier lives.

Around 2% of the U.K population identify as being lesbian, gay or bisexual with around 1% being gender variant.

In an organisation or school with around 1000 employees or pupils this equates approximately 20 being L, G or B and approximately 10 being gender variant to some degree.

With isolation, fear, discrimination and poor mental health being higher than the general population your organisation cannot afford to turn a deaf ear to the needs of your LGBT pupils and staff.

It is not a big challenge to make your place of work inclusive and we’re here happy to help!

Whether it’s training or setting up a peer support group, Inspiring Healthy Choices are on hand to assist you.
